In the 1970s a massive hurricane destroyed the majority of the Jamaican Coffee Crops, those that survived became instantly famous because of their quality and scarcity. A number of plant cultivars were taken from the Jamaican Blue Mountains and transplanted to the Highlands of Papua New Guinea. Hence the “Blue Mountain” Tag. In the last 10-20 years P.N.G has emerged from the shadow of the Jamaican legend and now produce outstanding coffees.
